Parker School kicked off the 2011-2012 school year Monday, Aug. 15. On Thursday, Aug. 11, new and returning Parker School students met their new teachers, visited their classrooms and connected with fellow students at the school’s orientation day.

Headmaster Carl Sturges, new interim lower school head Stephen Billhardt, and the lower school faculty and staff welcomed the kindergarten through fifth grade families with a morning gathering of introductions and song.

Smiles abounded as students got to visit their new teachers and drop off school supplies in their classrooms.

In the afternoon, current Parker Student Council members greeted new middle and upper school students and ushered them to the Parker Theatre for a brief welcome assembly led by Sturges and assistant headmaster Shellie Gressard.

After a classroom tour where teachers introduced themselves and their subjects, and some orientation games, the students enjoyed ice cream served by the Student Council members.
