Hawaiian appoints Borzilleri, Berry to new posts

Hawaiian Airlines has announced the appointment of Steven Borzilleri to the new position of managing director for Hawaii maintenance.

Hawaiian created this position as part of a recent corporate realignment to oversee all of the company’s maintenance activities conducted within the state of Hawaii.

Borzilleri is responsible for directing the work of Hawaiian’s 270 maintenance staff personnel and support facilities at its hub operations at Honolulu International Airport, as well as its Neighbor Island airport station operations in Lihue, Kahului, Hilo, and Kona.

“Steve has an impressive and diverse background in aviation maintenance that will serve Hawaiian’s needs very well as we continue to move forward with our plan to add more new aircraft to our fleet operations and expand our service to new destinations abroad,” said Charles Nardello, Hawaiian’s senior vice president of operations.

Borzilleri brings more than 20 years of management experience in aviation maintenance to Hawaiian, the bulk of which was accrued for US Airways at its largest international operations in Philadelphia. This included serving as director of technical operations support for aircraft serving 13 cities in Europe and, before that, as hub director for line maintenance overseeing 700 maintenance personnel servicing more than 300 flights daily.

Most recently, Borzilleri served as a consultant for three years providing his expertise in support of business development opportunities and aircraft certification for various aviation companies

In addition, Hawaiian has appointed company executive Karen Berry to the new position of vice president of labor and employee relations.

Berry is responsible for leading an employee relations team that provides support and counsel to Hawaiian’s employees. She will also lead collective bargaining efforts with the company’s unionized employees.

“Karen is a proven, effective leader at Hawaiian Airlines with a deep understanding of the company and our workforce,” said Barbara Falvey, Hawaiian’s senior vice president – human resources. “She will lead the effort to take care of our employees’ needs and align them with the company’s organizational goals and direction as we continue to grow.”

Berry joined Hawaiian in 1990 as director of corporate planning. She has served in the finance department for the past 11 years, most recently as vice president – treasurer. Prior to that she was vice president of finance.

Berry is an alumnus of Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a triple major in economics, public administration, and journalism. She earned her Masters in Business Administration degree from Lehigh with an emphasis in finance.
