Hawaii 24/7 reporting by Margaret Masunaga

Students from Jissen Joshigakuen Girls School are visiting the Big Island to learn about Hawaii and learn English.

Two dozen girls ages 14-15 from the Tokyo school on Sunday visited Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealalekekua.

The ninth grade students were treated to lunch by Kona Hongwanji in the church hall. They also participated in a couple of dances to the taiko drums and learned to make a yarn lei.

The students are staying at HPA for 12 days.
