Nishioka promoted at Tropical Dreams


Tropical Dreams Ice Cream Company has announced the promotion of Sheena Nishioka to general manager, Hawaii State Operations of Edney and Sellers, Limited, DBA Tropical Dreams Ice Cream, Hilo Homemade and Big Island Ice Cream Companies.

Nishioka started with the company in 2003, since then she has learned and progressed through all stages of ice cream production and product development.

This promotion formalizes the role Nishioka has played for some time and recognizes her contributions, dedication and leadership within the company have been a vital element to its continued growth and success.

Tropical Dreams Ice Cream Company has been manufacturing gourmet ice cream and related products on the Big Island for more than 20 years. It is a small batch, custom maker of super premium and premium ice cream. The company offers a wide range of wholesale ice cream and frozen dessert products, including a broad line of sorbets, yogurts and sherbets.

All the cream comes from Big Island dairies. The company uses as much local fruit as possible such as white pineapple, poha berry, ohelo berry, dragon fruit, mango, passion fruit, guava, apple banana and others. Company officials are working with Hawaii Tropical Fruit Grower’s Association in an effort to develop new flavors and expand the use of local fruit.

The company is headquartered in the Lalamilo Farm lots in Waimea. The property is five acres with 15 large greenhouses currently producing tomatoes and cucumbers operated by Sunrise Farms.
