Waimea Elementary thrift shop back-to-school sale

MEDIA RELEASE

Tucked away in the back of Waimea Elementary School’s campus – near the post office entry to the school yard – is a Thrift Shop that benefits Waimea families and the community in two ways – first by providing great prices on “gently used” and sometimes new clothing and household items, and secondly, by contributing all proceeds earned by the crew of volunteers to the elementary school to support student learning.

With the start of the public school year Aug. 1 approaching, the Waimea Elementary School Thrift Shop is full to the brim of new donations and is offering a half price sale on all clothing including children, teens, women’s and men’s wear.

The shop is open from 1-3 p.m. Wednesdays and 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays. To reach the shop, it’s best to park in the gravel lot behind the post office and enter the campus through the back gate.

Though full at the moment, donations are always welcome and should be dropped off during shop hours. Tax deductible receipts will be provided to contributors.

Volunteers are also needed; training will be provided.

“We send a warm mahalo to the community for responding so quickly to our recent request for hangers – we now have plenty, but deeply grateful for the community’s generous support,” said the shop’s lead volunteer Gunda Iaea.

For further information, call Iaea at 990-1959 or email gunda@hawaiiantel.net.
