Kealoha promoted to assistant police chief

Chief Harry S. Kubojiri has promoted Major Paul Kealoha to assistant chief effective July 18.

Kealoha will be in charge of Area II Operations in West Hawai’i. Assistant Chief Henry Tavares, a Hilo resident who is now in charge of Area II Operations, will transfer to Area I Operations in East Hawai’i on the same date.

Kealoha is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He joined the Hawai’i Police Department in 1985 and has worked in West Hawai’i for 24 of his 26 years on the police force. For the last two years he has been the major in charge of Administrative Services.
