According to reports at about 1 a.m. a large tree fell across utility lines on Paradise Drive between 17th and 18th Avenues snapping a utility pole and bringing down power lines. Some sections of HPP were without power since 1 a.m., others lost power about 3 a.m. and power may have been restored to some residents.

As of 7:30 a.m. the tree had been cleared from the area and Hawaiian Electric Light Company crews are on the scene to make repairs. The weight of the tree pulled hard on the lines causing the cross-beams at the tops of the pole to twist. Crews will need to fix the damaged lines and poles.

Paradise Drive is closed while crews make repairs and it is unknown when all power will be restored.
