“Shannon has been a vital member of the finance team and has helped Hawaiian improve its business operations by taking charge of important accounting-related tasks and performing them all admirably,” said Peter Ingram, Hawaiian’s executive vice president and chief financial officer. “This promotion reflects the outstanding work she has done and the added responsibilities being asked in her new role as the company’s controller.”

Prior to joining Hawaiian, Okinaka served as a manager with Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP in its Honolulu office. Her responsibilities for clients included documenting processes and controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and performing financial and information technology audits.

Before that, she served as a senior internal auditor at Hawaiian Electric Company.

A certified public accountant, Okinaka graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management Information Systems and Accounting.

A Big Island native, she graduated from Waiakea High School in Hilo.

Okinaka volunteers her time to support Ohia Productions, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to providing creative, educational, and inspiring theatrical experiences to children and families in Hawaii.
