A brushfire continued to burn early Wednesday off Mamalahoa Highway mauka and south of the Waikoloa Junction.

The fire likely was started by lightning shortly after noon Tuesday and has not been declared contained, however authorities report there are no structures that far off the main road and no road closures are anticipated.

The fire’s glow can be seen from Waikoloa Village and conditions have been windy, but fire officials had issued no alerts or warnings as of 3 a.m. Wednesday.
