The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf Advisory for East Hawaii until 6 a.m. Monday (May 23).
Surf heights of six to eight feet are forecast with rough and choppy surf conditions. Beach goers are advised to beware of rip currents and localized beach erosion.
A Small Craft Advisory is also in effect until 6 p.m. Monday (May 23) for the Kaiwi Channel, Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel and Alehuihaha Channel and waters southeast of the Big Island.
