MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii Island Humane Society’s 15th Annual Tropical Paws fundraiser is set for 6 p.m. Friday, May 6 at the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort.

“Tickets are still available but as always – thanks to our supporters we expect to sell out soon,” said Hawaii Island Humane Society Executive Director Donna Whitaker. “We encourage you to buy now so that you may join us for this fun and worthwhile evening.”

Tickets, $100 per person or $1500 for a reserved table of ten, are available at HIHS’s Waimea and Kona shelters, by calling 329-2135, ext. 3 or securely online via PayPal at www.HIHS.org

Adding to the festive event, this year Tropical Paws welcomes famed mixologist Joey Gottesman from Honolulu.

Mixologist Joey Gottesman will stir things up at Tropical Paws.
He will be on hand during the cocktail reception creating specialty drinks using Grey Goose Vodka.

Gottesman has created drink menus for Indigo, The Kahala Resort, The Royal Hawaiian, and literally dozens of other spots statewide.

As a mixologist and “bar chef,” Gottesman has a passion for cocktails. He enjoys creating a memorable experience with each and every drink he concocts.

Tropical Paws’ Top Dog Sponsor is Territorial Builders. Other sponsors include PetCo Foundation, Jim Smith from Hawaii Water Service Company, and Blue Dragon Coastal Cuisine and Musiquarium. In addition to Grey Goose Vodka, beverage sponsors are Kona Brewing Co. and Guenoc Wines.

Pat Batchelder will host the live auction and entertainment and dance music will be provided by LT Smooth and Vakanui.

Other event supporters are Huggo’s Restaurant, Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, Farish Media, Tiffany and Company, numerous ocean activity outfitters, island restaurants, hotels here, on Oahu, and the Four Seasons Resort in Langkawi, Malaysia. Donations include an original painting by Martha Greenwell created specifically for Tropical Paws.

Proceeds from the ‘pawsitively pawsome’ gala event benefit our island’s animals and the many programs and outreach of the Hawaii Island Humane Society.

This year’s event will offer news and mark the beginning of fundraising efforts for the island’s new Animal Community Center.

Since its inception Tropical Paws has raised more than $500,000 to support vital programs offered by the Hawaii Island Humane Society including the Second Chance Fund, The Katie Fund, and the Spay/Neuter Community Assistance Program.

The Second Chance Fund provides medical care and treatment for abused animals while they recuperate and become ready for adoption.

The Spay/Neuter Community Assistance Program and the Katie Fund are committed to ending pet overpopulation on the Big Island.
