Tropical Paws benefits Humane Society (May 6)

MEDIA RELEASE

Tickets are going quick for the Hawaii Island Humane Society’s 15th Annual Tropical Paws fundraiser. The event is 6 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort.

Adding to the list of gala sponsors that includes the PetCo Foundation and Jim Smith from Hawaii Water Service Company are donations from a wide variety of businesses and individuals.

Auction items and donations are still welcomed and very much appreciated. Contact HIHS Executive Director Donna Whitaker at 329-8002 if you or your company can help HIHS make a difference, one animal at a time.

Tropical Paws ticket holders will have the opportunity to bid on everything from luxury vacations to dinners, fine art to handcrafted wood works, island activities, jewelry and more. Holding with tradition, Tropical Paws hosts one of the most extensive silent and live fundraising auctions on the island.

Now a tradition at Tropical Paws, event goers may obtain a blue Tiffany box for a nominal donation during the evening and become the lucky one soon wearing their choice of a Tiffany men’s or lady’s watch valued at more than $2,000.

In addition to extending thanks for donations already received, Hawaii Island Humane Society appreciates the support of Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, Big Island Television and Lyman Medeiros.

Cocktail reception sponsors include Grey Goose Vodka whose mixologist will be stirring things up for guests, Guenoc Wines and Kona Brewing Company. Additionally, a special guest mixologist will be serving four specialty mixed drinks during the event reception.

Pat Batchelder will once again take command of the stage during the energetic live auction which will include an opportunity to place a winning bid for famed Hawaii Chef Sam Choy to prepare a five course meal for up to ten people in your home.

Entertainment and dance music will be provided during the evening by LT Smooth and Vakanui.

Proceeds from this ‘pawsitively pawsome’ gala event benefit Hawaii Island’s animals and the many programs and outreach of Hawaii Island Humane Society.

Tickets are $100 per person or $1500 for a reserved table of 10. Tickets may be purchased at HIHS’s Waimea and Kona shelters, Alii Veterinary Hospital, from any HIHS Board Member or they may be purchased securely online via PayPal at www.HIHS.org

Since its inception Tropical Paws has raised more than $500,000 to support vital programs offered by the Hawaii Island Humane Society including the Second Chance Fund, The Katie Fund, and the Spay/Neuter Community Assistance Program.

The Second Chance Fund provides medical care and treatment for abused animals while they recuperate and become ready for adoption. The Spay/Neuter Community Assistance Program and the Katie Fund are committed to ending pet overpopulation on the Big Island.

The mission of the Hawaii Island Humane Society is to promote respect for all animals, prevent cruelty to animals, eliminate pet overpopulation, and enhance the bond between humans and animals.

HIHS holds a contract with the County of Hawaii to enforce certain animal-related laws and it offers 24-hour service for injured animals and other animal emergencies, humane education classes, low-cost spay and neuter services, lost and found assistance, microchipping and more.
