Schedule of events for the 11th Annual Earth & Ocean Festival
10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Keauhou Beach Resort

MAIN STAGE

10 a.m. – Festival Welcome, Na Wai Iwi Ola & Kumu Keala Ching

11 a.m. – Presentation of Flag Contest Winners, Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce

11:30 a.m. – Green Power Girl & Green Power Heroes

12:30 p.m. – Prize Raffle Drawing

1 p.m. – Ukulele Performance, Kealakehe Middle School Students

1:30 p.m. -Hapa Concert

2:45 p.m. – Prize Raffle Drawing

3 p.m. – Festival Closing

SUSTAINABLE ISLAND THEATER

10:30 a.m. – Dolphin Research Update: Susan Rickards, M.S. Board Member, Hawaii Marine Mammal Consortium. Presenting a summary of data collected over 20 years from Midway Atoll to the Big Island.

11 a.m. – Nutrient Recycling: Nancy Redfeather, Director of Kohala Center’s Hawaii Island School Garden Network. Everyone can learn to compost! Nancy will show us how to create soil fertility from waste through composting using scraps from your kitchen and garden to create nutrient rich soil.

11:45 a.m. -Organic Certification and Food Safety: Maile Sacarob, Ag Services Hawaii, Inc. Learn about becoming eligible for organic certification in accord with USDA and National Organic Program standards, and about food safety. Also, there will be a discussion of grants and other funding opportunities.

12:15 p.m. -Renewable Energy in Hawaii: Jay Ignacio, President, Hawaii Electric Light Company. Leading the way with renewable energy: A company overview and look at our Island’s energy future.

PUPPET SHOW – CENTER GARDEN

Every half-hour beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the last show at 12:30 p.m.
