Special to Hawaii 24/7

On April 12, Parker School students participated in the Students Rebuild sponsored ‘Oragami Crane Project’ to benefit tsunami affected schools in Japan.

The student body, teachers, and four parent volunteers folded 1,229 cranes throughout the day.

Parker’s cranes have been sent to the Seattle based, Students Rebuild organization and will join those of many other schools.

Parker School’s cranes are eligible for the Bezos Family Foundation pledge to donate $2 for each crane received by April 15, up to $200,000 for a total of 100,000 cranes.

Cranes from students worldwide will be combined and woven into an art installation that will be presented to a Japanese school.
