Kapilina Brick Garden at West Hawaii Civic Center

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii Island Rotarians, with cooperation from the County of Hawaii, are creating a community brick garden at the new Civic Center with all the net proceeds benefiting Big Island non-profits.

Kapilina, the name for the brick garden is a Hawaiian word meaning the connection of the past to the present and into the future.

We are selling laser-engraved bricks to companies and individuals. These will be placed in the courtyard of the new Civic Center, on permanent display. The bricks can be engraved with company logos, names, sayings and messages of remembrance for a person (or even pet) that has passed away. We even have a special value-priced brick to commemorate a student’s graduation.

About the Project

There are seven Hawaii Island non-profits involved in this project. Brick buyers can choose to support one or all of these groups:

* FRIENDS of the Children’s Justice Center
* HOPE Services Hawaii
* Hawaii Island Growing Our Own Teachers
* Hawaii Island Humane Society
* The Food Basket
* The Island of Hawaii YMCA
* West Hawaii Community Health Center
