Driver dies, three injured in Kona SUV crash

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 2:39 a.m. alarm Saturday (April 9) for an SUV that crashed near 73-1071 Ahulani Street in Kona.

Upon arrival rescue crews found a female driver trapped in the driver’s seat with no signs of life.

The passengers from the SUV who got out of the vehicle included a 15 year-old girl from the front passenger seat with chest pains, a 21 year-old man from the right rear seat with pain to the right side of his body and a 19 year-old man from the left rear seat.

According to the fire dispatch report one of the men ran up the street and the other down the street and the girl sat in a driveway after the crash.

All passengers were taken to Kona Community Hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash is undetermined at this time according to fire dispatch reports.
