Napau Fire update for March 25, 2011

The Napau Fire in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is reported to be 50% contained according to Napau Fire Information Officer Gary Wuchner Friday (March 25).

The fire has consume 2,076 acres of land since it’s start from the Kamoamoa Fissure Eruption on March 5, 2011. Favorable weather in the form of light trade winds and rain have assisted firefighters in controlling the blaze.

There have been no injuries reported in fighting the fire and the Chain of Craters Road is open.
