High surf advisory still in effect for the Big Island

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for East facing shores of all islands except for Lanai and Niihau. The advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday.

The strong trade winds will continue to bring rough and choppy surf to East facing shores. Rough surf of 6-10 feet is forecast for today lowering to 6-8 feet tonight and 5-7 feet Saturday (March 26).

Beach goers should use caution due to hazardous wave action and strong rip currents.
