KOC offering ‘Hop into Spring’ workshop (March 23)

Kona Outdoor Circle and Watanabe Floral Inc. are partnering to present an educational workshop 1:30-3 p.m. Wednesday, March 23.

The workshop includes a flower arranging class, plus a behind the scenes visit to the Watanabe Floral’s new Kona store.

Watanabe Floral, the largest provider of wholesale and retail flowers in the state of Hawaii, operates two retail stores on the Big Island. This 65-year-old family run business also currently provides floral arrangements and leis to Costco, Target, Wal-Mart and K-Mart on both the Big Island and Oahu.

Watanabe Floral has received many accolades statewide, including Hawaii’s Best Florist, Best Florist (Honolulu Magazine) and Best of the Best. It is widely considered the premier retail florist in West Hawaii

Val Colprit, head floral designer for Watanabe Floral Inc., will conduct a demonstration on creating a spring time flower arrangement.

Colprit has lived and worked on the Big Island for five years. Before moving to Hawaii, she was a wedding floral designer and event planner for 20 years in the northeast U.S.

Colprit currently provides floral centerpieces and arrangements to the Mauna Lani, the Sheraton Keauhou Beach, the Marriott Waikoloa and the Waikoloa Hilton, as well as providing floral designs for events, weddings, banquets and conventions that occur at these venues.
