Hamakua CPD update for March

Aloha Hamakua CDP Communities,

Meeting Highlights from March 1, 2011:

* We were happy to have more than 20 community members attend the March 1st CDP meeting in Laupahoehoe. At that meeting, the Steering Committee voted to adopt a Values and Vision Statement that will be used to guide the planning process. This statement will ensure that the CDP is developed in line with the values and vision already expressed by the community throughout the initial Talk Story & Survey phase of the CDP. This statement is just the beginning of the conversation, and now the real work of planning is underway.

The full statement is included on page 2 of the Update, and the full Values and Vision Report is located on the main page of our site: www.hamakuacdp.info

* Progress Reports for the 10 Strategy Areas were given by Steering Committee members. These Strategy Areas include: Agricultural Strategies, Community-Managed & Public Access, Town Revitalization & Old Mamalahoa & Growth Areas, Cane Road & Industrial Areas, Watershed Partnership & Forestry, Waipio Valley Wahi Pana, Sea Cliff Setback, Transportation, Disaster Resiliency, Community Facilities Needs & Financing.
