UH-Hilo finishes seventh at Pioneer Shootout golf

The University of Hawaii at Hilo played one-man down and finished seventh at the Pioneer Shootout hosted by Cal State East Bay on the Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo, Calif.

Blake Snyder led the way with a 11-over-par 227 with rounds of 77-79-71 on the par-3, 6782-yard course. Neil Cabico was tied for 17th place three strokes back at 230 (77-78-75) while Travis Russell was tied in 27 place at 233 (77-78-78). Chris Shimomura finished in 46th place at 241 (83-81-77). Corey Kozuma was unable to play the first two rounds and fired an83 in the third round.

Western Washington won the team title with an 897 followed by Chico State (907), Sonoma State (910), Cal State Stanislaus (919), Cal State San Bernardino (927), BYU-Hawaii (929), Hawaii Hilo (931), Cal State East Bay (94), Cal State Monterey Bay (937), UC San Diego (942), Notre Dame de Namur (952), William Jessup (993), Dominican (1004) and Academy of Art (1027).

The individual title went to Cal State San Bernardino’s Kenny Pigman who shot a 4-under-par 212.
