Legislators tour the Big Island’s green job industries

Legislators visit Green Point Nursery in Hilo Sunday (March 27) where premium anthuriums, orchids and other tropical plants are grown. The nursery actually sit atop ancient black volcanic cinders, which is the growing medium.

Legislators encountered protestors on the roadway to Hu Honua Bioenergy Facility in Pepeekeo. The visit was part of a weekend tour by state lawmakers led by Sen. Malama Solomon to look at projects that are connected to high quality, clean-green job creation, and also food and energy self sufficiency.
