Hawaii Learning Resource summer camps slated

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii Learning Resource, in partnership with Assets School, is pleased to announce its 2011 Summer Academic Enrichment Camps for struggling students entering grades 2 to 8 in the 2011-2012 school year.

The two-week day camps, held at Hawaii Preparatory Academy’s Village Campus, provide students with a fun, hands-on learning experience designed to inspire joy in learning, and an opportunity to improve learning and social skills.

The first two-week camp, the Summer Spy Academy, is June 13-24 and targets students entering grades 2 to 6. The camp focuses on building learning skills with an emphasis on observation, focus, and listening.

The second two-week camp, the Game of Life, is June 27-July 8 and targets students entering grades 6 to 8 with a focus on project-based life lessons designed to build learning, team, and life skills.

The camps run 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday with a maximum enrollment of 20 students per session.

Camp tuition is $400 per student for each two-week session and includes lunch and snacks. Limited financial assistance is available to reduce the tuition cost.

Applications are available on the Hawaii Learning Resource website, www.hawaiilearningresource.org, or you may call Hawaii Learning Resource at (808) 885-9318 to request an application.

Hawaii Learning Resource is the dba of North Hawaii Women and Children’s Service, a Waimea based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1997. The mission of Hawaii Learning Resource is to help and empower diverse learners in school and in life.
