The Hawai’i Police Department is renewing its request for help from the public in locating and identifying an unknown man responsible for a robbery in Hilo on October 21 around 7:30 p.m.

Hilo patrol officers responded to a restaurant in downtown Hilo and met with the victim, who reported that an unknown man took his wife’s purse from a table while they were seated. When the victim attempted to stop the suspect, the suspect punched him in the face.

The suspect is described as local, in his mid 20s, 5-feet-10 to 5-feet-11, 250 pounds with a tattoo on his right outer calf.

Police ask that anyone with information on his identity or whereabouts call Detective Ernest Matsumoto at 961-2379 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
