MEDIA RELEASE

Parker School has announced three seniors have made it to the final round of the National Merit Scholarship Program. Among the students representing Hawaii as finalists are Edward Hon, Mary Kamitaki, and Elliott Warkus.

Started in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. To qualify students must take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

This test is the initial screen of approximately 1.5 million entrants who have met published requirements each year.

Edward, Mary and Elliott are among 15,000 nationally qualified as finalists and are among the highest scoring entrants representing the state of Hawaii.

Students advancing to the final round will be assessed based on ability, skills, and accomplishments. Between March and June approximately 8,400 Finalists will be awarded Merit Scholarships.
