Pelekane project on Kawaihae agenda (Feb. 13)


Kawaihae Local Resource Council meets 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13 at the Hamakua Macadamia Nut Factory to hear the Pelekane Bay Watershed Restoration Project Report to the Kawaihae community.

Melora Purell, coordinator of the Kohala Watershed Partnership, a volunteer hui of landowners and associated members, will present a wrap-up report on the ARRA grant.

The Pelekane Bay Watershed Restoration Project focused on fencing, planting, irrigation, sediment and invasive species control. The work was finished ahead of schedule and on budget.
