Girls Basketball: Kona starts with big win

No. 1 seed Konawaena kicked off its state tournament with 57-32 victory against Kaiser in Division I.

The Wildcats completely shut down Kaiser in the first period, 15-0, and didn’t look back. Anuhea Wall led Konawaena with 31 points and Dawnyelle Awa added 25.

Darcey Goulsby led Kaiser with 27 points.

Kona faces Iolani in the semi-finals Thursday evening.

Also in the Division I consolation bracket, Waiakae faces Kaimuki for seventh place.

In Division II semi-final action Thursday, No. 3 seed Kamehameha Schools Hawaii squares off against Maryknoll after defeating University, 65-41.

Also, HPA takes on Hawaii Baptist for a chance to play for fifth place.
