MEDIA RELEASE

Best-selling author John Saul visited the Parker School campus to share his journey of becoming a writer with the junior and senior classes as part of Parker School’s annual Speaker Series.

The series, started by Rea Callender, in September 2005, has served as an excellent professional development opportunity for Parker students; bringing many well known artists, scientists, businessman and entrepreneurs to the school’s stage to share their stories of success, determination, dedication and the importance of following one’s dream.

Saul, who writes mostly suspense and horror fiction, addressed many aspiring writers in the audience and captivated their attention with his stories of his early years working odd jobs while on his quest to become a writer. He taught the students to be patient, yet focused as they pursue their craft.

Saul lives with his partner, Mike Sack, in Seattle and on the Big Island.

The 2010-2011 Speaker Series will continue with Joe Rizzi of the Jupiter Foundation visiting in February and George Zimmer, founder of the Men’s Wearhouse to appear in April.
