A community meeting to determine the future of the Volcano Skatepark will be held on Thursday (Jan 31) at 6 p.m. at the Cooper Center.

According to Bob Fitzgerald, Parks and Recreation Director, the skatepark was closed due to safety concerns. Fitzgerald said, “The Cooper Center has the MOU (memorandum of understanding) on that to be able to open the skatepark to the public and there’s been some damage. I guess the group that was taking care of it is not doing quite a good a job as it was in the past.”

Because of the present condition of the skatepark structure Fitzgerald said, “There’s an exemption for people getting hurt but not if there’s negligence in part of the care,” of the facility.
