New York artist Aurora Robson creates artwork out of beach trash at Parker School

MEDIA RELEASE

Items gathered from the shores of Kamilo Point (also known as Junk Beach) on the southeast coast of Hawaii have been transformed into a beautiful work of art by New York artist. Ms. Robson’s project was commissioned as part of the Ocean Film Festival in Waimea.

The debris from Kamilo Point was brought to Parker School’s Art Studio where Ms. Robson, with the assistance of a group of student volunteers cleaned, sorted and arranged it into a rainbow of collected materials ready to be shaped into a one of a kind work of art to be displayed at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. Ms. Robson viewed the raw materials that had been collected and designed this piece, “Kamilo” which resembles a rainbow koi fish.
