Police charge two Puna men with drug and firearm offenses

Big Island police have charged two Puna men with a variety of drug and firearm offenses stemming from a search warrant early Tuesday (January 4).

Forty-eight-year-old George Pavao III, 58-year-old John Alexander and 23-year-old Rebecca Mossman-King were arrested after vice officers served a warrant on a property in Mountain View and recovered crystal methamphetamine, marijuana plants, pills and firearms from two different structures.

Mossman-King was released pending further investigation.

Pavao was charged with methamphetamine trafficking, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a harmful drug, promoting a detrimental drug, and possessing drug paraphernalia after officers discovered 10.9 grams of “ice” in 19 separate resealable plastic bags, 1.6 grams of dry processed marijuana, scales, resealable plastic bags, and numerous morphine, oxycodone, and hydrocodone pills in his house. He was also charged with two unrelated counts of first-degree promotion of a detrimental drug for selling marijuana to a police informant on December 1 and December 7. His bail was set at $367,000.

Alexander was charged with promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a detrimental drug, possessing drug paraphernalia, ownership prohibited of a firearm, and other firearm offenses after officers recovered 20.3 grams of dried marijuana, “ice” pipes, scales, packets, two rifles and one shotgun from his house on the property. His bail was set at $62,000.

Pavao and Alexander were held at the Hilo police cellblock until their initial court appearance early Wednesday afternoon (January 5).
