Los Angeles man found dead in Waikoloa resort on Christmas Day

Big Island police are investigating the Christmas Day discovery of a body in Kohala hotel as a coroner’s inquest.

At 7:45 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 25), police and fire personnel responded to a report of a body at The Fairmont Orchid.

The body was identified as 50-year-old Aron Abrams of Los Angeles. Abrams was a writer/producer for numerous successful TV shows, including “3rd Rock from the Sun,” “Grounded for Life,” “Everybody Hates Chris” and, most recently, “King of the Hill.”

Abrams was reportedly on vacation in Hawaii with his wife, Lynn Lempert.

An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death is scheduled for Friday (Dec. 31).

Detectives from the Area II Criminal Investigations Section are continuing the investigation, but have said they do not suspect foul play.

According to reports from Los Angeles, Abrams was raised in Emerson, N.J.. he attended Oberlin and Connecticut College.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters and a niece, Rachel Abrams, who is a reporter at Variety.
