MEDIA RELEASE

Adam Adler

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii has announced the expansion of its physician staff and midwifery services on the Big Island with the addition of family medicine physician Adam Adler, M.D., and Certified Nurse Midwife Roxanne Estes, respectively.

Both will be based at Kaiser Permanente’s Hilo clinic.

“Making quality health care more accessible to our members, particularly those on the Neighbor Islands, is a priority for Kaiser Permanente,” said Dr. Daryl Kurozawa, the organization’s physician leader for the Neighbor Islands.

“The addition of Dr. Adler and Certified Nurse Midwife Roxanne Estes helps us to provide the Hilo community with enhanced access to a full range of primary care and Ob-Gyn services,” he said.

Kaiser Permanente has more than 90 physicians and specialists from its medical group based at its seven Neighbor Island clinics on Maui and the Big Island.

Adler received his medical degree from Oregon Health Science University and completed his internship and residency at Providence Family Medicine Residency.

He is certified with Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics, and is also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

He was the recipient of the McGill Lawrence Service Learning Award in 2001.

Roxanne Estes

Estes was most recently with Bay Clinic Inc. in Pahoa, where she was instrumental in the start-up of Pahoa Women’s Health Clinic. Prior to that, she was a registered obstetric staff nurse at North Hawaii Community Hospital.

She has been practicing midwifery for the past 22 years and received her master’s in nursing from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing in Kentucky.

She is the only Certified Nurse Midwife in East Hawaii.

Kaiser Permanente Hawaii has provided total health to the people of Hawaii for more than 50 years.

Today it has Hawaii’s largest multi-specialty medical group with over 430 physicians and providers supported by 4,400 nurses and staff. Care for members is focused on their total health guided by personal physicians, specialists, and team of caregivers.
