MEDIA RELEASE
The county Department of Environmental Management is conducting a one day Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event at its Kailua-Kona (Kealakehe) Recycling & Solid Waste Transfer Station 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010.
The event is for household generated materials only. Latex paint recycling will also be available during the event and is being collected by Recycle Hawaii. No business, farm wastes or electronic waste will be accepted.
The event provides county residents a convenient and environmentally responsible method to dispose of potentially hazardous materials like automotive fluids, used batteries, fluorescent lights, pesticides, etc. Proper disposal of these materials protects our resident’s health and the environment.
The next event is scheduled for Kailua-Kona (Kealakehe) on June 11, 2011.
For more information on what is acceptable or unacceptable at the event, and for instructions on how to properly dispose of common hazardous household materials, visit: www.hawaiizerowaste.org
Or contact Chris Chin-Chance, Recycling Specialist, at 961-8554 or email recycle3@co.hawaii.hi.us.
The date listed for Hazardous dispoal is incorrect. Ought to be Saturday, December 10th.
Fixed, this post was for December 11, 2010. There’s a newer post with the correct information for those who need it for Hilo and Kona this year. https://hawaii247.com/?p=59620
