Police find parolee after tip called in

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a 34-year-old man wanted on several warrants, including one for parole revocation.

Aaron Nobriga is described as 5-foot-10, 155 pounds with a slim build. Police believe his hair is longer than in the photo they have on file.

Nobriga, who is known to frequent the Mountain View area of the Puna District, is also being sought as a suspect in two unauthorized control of motor vehicle cases and an unrelated drug case.

Police advice the public to use extreme caution around Nobriga, as he is believed to be in possession of a firearm. If the public sees him, they should make no attempt to detain him but should instead immediately call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 or 329-8181 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers doesn’t record calls or subscribe to caller ID. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.

UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE (3/3/11)

On the morning of March 3, 2011, working on a tip received from the public, Puna patrol officers arrested 35-year-old Aaron Nobriga who was being sought for several felony offenses and an outstanding warrant of arrest. Nobriga had recently been featured on Hawaii Island’s Most Wanted.

The information and tips that were provided were quite instrumental and led to his apprehension. The Hawai’i Police Department would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating Nobriga.
