Police investigating an attempted robbery in the Ka‘u

Big Island police are investigating an attempted robbery in the Ka‘u district over the weekend.

A 28-year-old Hawaiian Ocean View Estates resident reported he was confronted by three men while walking on Lehua Lane around 10:30 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 13).

The men reportedly asked the victim for marijuana and money and then attempted to reach into his pockets. During the struggle, the victim fell to the ground and one of the assailants cut him on the left shoulder with a sharp object.

The three men fled on foot. They were described only as Micronesian.

The victim was treated at Pahala Hospital for a laceration to the shoulder and released.
