Wayne ‘Big Dog’ Joseph’s Big Dog Productions hosted the Second Annual Veterans Day 5K Run/Walk at Moku Ola (Coconut Island) Thursday (Nov 11).

Almost 200 runners and walkers took to the streets of Hilo for the race. The entry fee for the race was either a canned good or monetary donation to the Hawaii Island Food Basket which provides food to those in need on the Big Island.

Speaking at the race were Joseph, Representative Jerry Chang and Dr. Joseph D’Angelo, a veteran of the war in the Mid-East and U.S. Army Reserve. Representative Chang is a U.S. Army veteran and supplied the refreshments for the event.

Taking first place for the men was Keoni Ucker while the women’s race was won by Kaylene Peric.

  1. Big Dog says:

Mahalo for coming and supporting our Veterans Day 5K run/walk. Also mahalo to the Mayor and his staff for writing a message and having Hunter Bishop read it.
It was a great event and we hope that 11-11-11 will be even bigger and better.
