Two one acre brushfires on Hwy 190 prompt road closures Monday (Nov 8)

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 6:14 p.m. alarm Monday (Nov 8) for a brushfire on Highway 190 near the 17 mile marker.

Crews found two separate fires about 100 feet apart, both about one acre in size burning moving slowly due to light winds on open land with fountain grass, a few trees and a‘a lava fields.

The fire was under control and contained with 15 minutes of the crew’s arrival. The highway was closed for about two hours during the operation.

The cause of the blaze is undetermined.
