MEDIA RELEASE

The annual service learning tradition continues at Parker School. Middle and upper school students and faculty participated in day-long projects at Anna Ranch, Parker Ranch, Kohala Watershed, Beach Cleanup, Kaupulehu Dry Forest, Kiholo Bay, and the on school campus.

The 33-member team at the Kohala Watershed planted two types of native, wet forest trees: 189 Pilo and 57 Manono for a total of 246 trees planted. The team at Anna Ranch helped clean up flower beds and remove twigs, fallen branches and other organic material.

Parker School would like to thank the following businesses for their donations that helped feed and equip the students for the day: Burger King Waimea, Subway Waikoloa Village, Subway Waikoloa Queens’ Shops, Solimene’s Pizza, K-Mart Kailua-Kona, Safeway Kailua-Kona, Costco, HPM.

For 20 years, USA WEEKEND and HandsOn Network, a business unit of Points of Light Institute, have joined together to sponsor Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service.

Held annually on the fourth Saturday in October, Make A Difference Day is a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors.
