Dozens of furry four-footed fund-raisers strolled Alii Drive for the 2010 Hawaii Island Humane Society’s Pet Walk on Sunday morning.

The fundraising walk finished at Hale Halawai for a hotdog eating contest and time to make some new friends.

HIHS hosted a similar walk Saturday in Hilo.

By Sunday evening, HIHS has raised more than $17,000 through the two Pet Walks.

Proceeds from the Pet Walks benefit some of the many needs of Hawaii Island Humane Society including pet food supplies and low-cost spay and neuter services to help eliminate pet overpopulation.
