Four injured by wind gust at Mauna Kea

MEDIA RELEASE

Four people were injured Wedneday, Oct. 27 by a strong gust of wind that flipped over several lounge chairs, cabanas, and a lifeguard tower at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel in South Kohala.

Reported to fire crews at 2:01 p.m., the gust was described by one bystander as a “whirlwind.”

Firefighters took two people to the hospital with minor injuries, and two other people with minor injuries left without treatment.
