Fisheries council meets at Honokohau Harbor (Oct. 21)

The West Hawaii Fisheries Council will meet 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 at the Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club at Honokohau Harbor. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The agenda in October will include legislative issues at the County Council and the incoming session of the Hawaii State Legislature. The council will begin to discuss issues to be explored during the Dec. 9 Strategic Planning Session. This is 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club and the public is welcome.

The West Hawaii Fisheries Council (WHFC), a community-based marine advisory organization, holds a meeting every month on items of interest to the West Hawaii fishing community and makes recommendations to the Department of Land and Natural Resources/Division of Aquatic Resources with the goal of implementing ‘management plans for minimizing resource depletion and minimizing conflicts of use’.
