With four goals in the first eight minutes of the game, the University of Hawaii at Hilo cruised to a 6-0 Pacific West Conference win over Chaminade University on the UHH field.
“We did just what we wanted heading into the game,” said UHH head coach Bryan Green. “We finished on set pieces and possessed the ball. We didn’t want to get into too many dangerous situations and kept the ball moving.”
The Vulcans improve to 5-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the PacWest while the Silverswords are 1-7 overall and 0-6 in the conference.
Three minutes into the match, Jeremy Gwerder connected on David Garcia’s corner kick to the game winner. A minute later, Drew Geis drove Jose Vasquez’s pass in for a 2-0 lead.
Two-minutes later, Cameron Castillo’s throw-in sailed into the middle of the box where Gwerder picked up his second header goal of the match.
Vasquez drove in another goal on a break away one-minute later. He added another goal at the 37:15 mark on a corner kick by Raydan Bala.
Gabe Kallen-Brown scored a break-away goal to end scoring.
