Sunday’s Child Foundation fundraiser (Oct. 16)

MEDIA RELEASE

If you have been to one of Sunday’s Child Foundation’s fundraisers, then you know that they are anything but boring. Last New Year’s Eve was celebrated with a beautiful and enchanted party in an historical plantation home.

This year, they are throwing a high-energy event that is sure to be talked about for years to come. On Saturday, Oct. 16, Sunday’s Child Foundation is launching its first annual Bachelor – Bachelorette Auction, “An Evening of Island Spirit,” at the Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort in Kailua-Kona.

“I wanted to create an event that would be high-energy, tons of fun, and appeal to a younger age group. Since Sunday’s Child Foundation works with at-risk youth age 5 to 17, we want to bring attention to the importance of mentoring to these impressionistic children. By bringing a fundraiser that appeals to this demographic, we can spread the word and source a greater number of mentors, while having a fun and positive event,” executive director, Lauren Rainier said.

Sunday’s Child Foundation thrives on providing at-risk children and their resource families respite retreats through experiential Hawaiian cultural activities & exploratory adventures that will be remembered for a lifetime.

“Our goal is to not only provide healing through education, but also, to bring the family unit closer together. Through our programs, families can bond and children may enjoy the great abundance of wealth in culture, history and nature that our beautiful island has to offer,” Rainier said.

“An Evening of Island Spirit” boasts 20 eligible bachelors and bachelorettes from around the island to be auctioned off in The Royal Garden at the Keauhou Beach Resort.

Each bachelor and bachelorette comes with a date package, so if you are the lucky bidder, you could enjoy an elegant dinner for two at Pah uia Restaurant at The Four Seasons Resort, Tommy Bahama’s, or even a luau at the Kona Village Resort; or if you require more action, you could be the lucky winner of a zipline or Dolphin Quest adventure, or Body Glove Cruise.

There will be live entertainment from The Kealakehe Polynesian Club and other special guests.

Dinner and dancing are also included in the ticket price of $45 in advance, and $55 at the door.
