A boater got into a bit more weather than he’s used to in Hilo Bay when the boat he was sailing capsized on the north side of the bay near Bayshore Towers Sunday (Oct 3) in the afternoon.

The man was the only person sailing on the boat, he was airlifted from the water by the fire department’s helicopter and flown to the Wainaku Lookout. The sailor did not need any medical treatment and was in good spirits despite the ordeal.
