A downed utility pole and lines from an early morning vehicle crash Saturday (Sept 18) kept Kawailani Street closed in Hilo as crews replaced the pole and made repairs. Motorists were advised to avoid the area which was closed between Kilauea Avenue and Kinoole Street.

Through traffic on Kilauea Avenue was being diverted around the Kawailani intersection.

Police re-opened Kawailani to traffic at 10 a.m. after pole and line repairs were completed.
