Fire/rescue crews responded to a 4:31 a.m. alarm Friday (Sept 17) for a structure fire at 15-2567 Keaau-Pahoa Road in Puna.

Upon arrival firefighers found a 40’x180′ metal pipe framed, fiberglass roofed structure 50% engulfed in flames. Crews had the fire under control by 5:01 a.m. and out by 5:30 a.m.

Machinery and flower growing supplies were damaged in the fire totaling an estimated $100,000 loss.

The cause of the fire is reported to be unknown.
