MEDIA RELEASE

To celebrate the debut of Kau Kau Kailua Restaurant Week Sept. 19-25, Na Hoku Hanohano award-winning singer songwriter Anuhea will perform at a free concert at Emma’s Square at 5 p.m. Be sure and come early in the afternoon to allow plenty of time to visit the many shops and merchants along Alii Drive that open their doors for visitors and locals during Kokua Kailua.

And be sure to make reservations at one of several participating Kau Kau Kailua restaurants Sunday evening to enjoy their special 3-course menus priced at just $20, $30 or $40.

Participating restaurants currently include Bistro Yokohama, Boston Basils, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Don the Beachcomber, Huggo’s and Huggo’s on the Rocks, Kona Beach Restaurant, Kona Brewing Co., Kona Canoe Club, Kona Inn Restaurant, Original Thai, Ristorante La Pasta, Splashers Grill, and The Fish Hopper.

Whether you’re craving Italian, Japanese, Thai, Seafood, or American cuisine, your craving will be met. Come back again and again throughout the week to try a new restaurant or return to a favorite while the special limited-time Kau Kau Kailua menus are being offered.

Kokua Kailua closes Alii Drive to vehicular traffic one Sunday per month making the area available to pedestrians only during the monthly event. Restaurant certificate drawings at 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., a free Hawaiian music concert at 4 p.m. on the lawn at Hulihee Palace, vendors, artisans and numerous shopping and dining options make this Sunday event fun and family-friendly.

Anheuser-Busch Sales of Hawaii is joining Kailua Village Business Improvement District as a supporting sponsor of Kau Kau Kailua.

October’s Kokua Kailua Village Stroll date is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 17.

Kokua Kailua Village Stroll is sponsored by the Kailua Village Business Improvement District, the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce, Destination Kona Coast, Kailua Village Merchants Association, Hulihee Palace and Pacific Radio Group. The program is designed to rally support for merchants and restaurants and to remind residents to shop, dine and buy local.
