White resigns as NHCH CEO

MEDIA RELEASE

NHCH has announced John White, CEO, has resigned effective Sept. 30.

The hospital is in the process of retaining a national search firm to identify his successor. In the interim, Wayne Allen, CFO, supported by the strong management team, will serve as CEO.

NHCH has made significant progress during John White’s tenure. The financial condition of the hospital is much improved, several physicians have been attracted to meet community needs, and the ongoing strategy of the hospital has been clarified.

Bob Momsen, Chairman of the Board, said, “We are disappointed that John, for various personal and professional reasons, has decided to move on. We wish him well.”

White said, “I have enjoyed my time here and am sure the hospital will prosper and successfully meet the needs of the community in the future.”

The hospital will host a community meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29 in its Mauna Kea/Mauna Loa Rooms to answer any questions.

North Hawaii Community Hospital (NHCH) is a rural, thirty-nine bed acute care medical facility located in Waimea. This non-profit, community-owned hospital opened in 1996 and serves residents and visitors of the Island of Hawaii. NHCH offers a full spectrum of acute-care hospital services.

It has a commitment to patient-centered care, treating the patient as a whole person – mind, body and spirit – in the context of family, culture and community. NHCH is a prototype for the careful integration of high-quality medical care and select complementary healing practices administered in a safe and caring environment.
