Fire/rescue crews spent Sunday searching for three males lost off the Captain’s Drive trail near the Fern Forest area of Volcano.

The hikers called for help via cellphones after they got lost amongst the numerous trails in the area and were unable to find their way back to their rental car parked at the trailhead on Captain’s Drive.

Firefighters used cellphones and air horns in an attempt to locate the hikers Sunday but called off the search due to darkness. The fire department’s Chopper One will conduct an aerial search Monday morning based upon the coordinates from the hiker’s cellphones.
